Recognises and celebrates projects of design excellence globally

19 October 2021, JAPAN – MICHAIL GKINIS AOYAMA is announced as the winner of DFA Design for Asia Awards 2021, one of Asia’s most prestigious design awards honouring design projects globally that have influenced and meaningful impact in Asia.

The DFA Design for Asia Awards celebrates design excellence and acknowledging outstanding designs with Asian perspectives. Launched in 2003, the DFA Design for Asia Awards has been a stage upon which design talents and corporations can showcase their design projects internationally.

Winners are selected by an international judging panel comprising experienced design professionals and experts. Entries were judged on overall excellence and considering factors like creativity & human centric innovation, usability, aesthetic, sustainability, impact in Asia as well as commercial and societal success.

Upon reflection of this year’s awards, Dr Joseph Wong, Executive Director of HKDC states “Amidst the pandemic, creativity and innovation proves to be the remedy for improving our quality of life. We are pleased to award projects that meaningfully address critical issues such as humanitarian needs, environmental, cultural and sustainable development, revitalisation through technological advancements, and marriage of functionality and aesthetics”

The DFA Awards Presentation Ceremony will be held at Hong Kong on 1 December 2021, celebrating the outstanding design projects awarded under the DFA Design for Asia Awards.

Since 2003, the DFA Design for Asia Awards honours design excellence and acknowledges user-centric design projects that embrace unique Asian perspectives to enhance and improve the quality of life for people in the region. Organised by the Hong Kong Design Centre and as one of the five programmes of DFA Awards, the DFA Design for Asia Awards has been a platform for design talents and corporates to showcase their design projects internationally.
