We have been using this term since the brand was established in 2008. We have often been asked, ‘Why wearable art? Isn’t art supposed to be separate from clothing?’

Our interpretation of wearable art is

‘expressing individuality.’

It is a form of ‘self-liberation’ that allows everyone, from the wearer to the creator, to freely express themselves.

The English word ‘idiosyncrasy,’ which means ‘individuality,’ originates from the Greek words ‘idios’ (individual) and “synkrasis” (mixture), signifying ‘unique characteristics’ or ‘singularity.’

MGA combines and harmonises the individualities of Japan and Greece—that is the individuality of Michail Gkinis Aoyama.

The liberation of individuality means freely expressing and utilising one’s unique characteristics and talents without restriction. It is an important element in deepening self-acceptance and understanding of others, leading to a more fulfilling life.

The liberation of individuality does not simply mean standing out, but rather following the passion and interests that arise from within, choosing a way of life that is true to oneself, and taking action.

The liberation of individuality not only enhances personal happiness but also contributes to the diversity and richness of society as a whole.
